{"id":2737,"date":"2024-08-01T14:03:13","date_gmt":"2024-08-01T12:03:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gaycenter.it\/?p=2737"},"modified":"2024-08-01T14:05:26","modified_gmt":"2024-08-01T12:05:26","slug":"8annirefuge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gaycenter.it\/en\/8annirefuge\/","title":{"rendered":"Casafamilia Refuge LGBT+ turns 8, welcoming 130 young people aged 18 to 20"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In a hot summer 8 years ago we opened the doors of Refuge LGBT+, our first family home, and\u00a0<\/span>We didn&#039;t stop there! In addition to Refuge LGBT+, we opened two other shelters: Refuge T*- A casa di Ornella and Refuge Co-Housing. Today, we have a Refuge LGBT+ Network with three homes.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Over the years, we have welcomed young victims of homophobic, lesbian, and transphobic discrimination, and we have listened to their often painful stories.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">They arrived scared, angry, hurt, but they had the determination to be reborn.<\/span><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">To date we have a<i>collected about\u00a0<b>130 people, average age 18\/20 years<\/b>, coming from all over Italy and also from abroad;\u00a0<b>40 have been included in training courses\u00a0<\/b>\u201con the job\u201d,\u00a0<b>44 have completed training courses and obtained their high school diploma\u00a0<\/b>e<b>\u00a0106\u00a0<\/b><\/i>they entered the\u00a0<b>world of work<\/b>.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It&#039;s amazing to see how far they&#039;ve come. Today they&#039;re independent people, with jobs they&#039;re passionate about and living the life they&#039;ve always dreamed of.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div>But none of this would be possible without the volunteers, but also thanks to the institutions that have been close to us over the years such as\u00a0<b>Unar, Lazio Region<\/b>, <b>8\u00d71000 funds from the Buddhist Institute\u00a0<wbr \/>Soka Gakkai and the Waldensian Church for the LGBT+ Refuge structure, the Municipio I and Municipio VII of Rome and Tiger for the other structures.<\/b><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: #000000;\">As long as there&#039;s even one LGBT+ person in need, we&#039;ll be here.
