On the occasion of the World Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia which will be on May 17th, the\u00a0Gay Center<\/strong>, together with\u00a0Arcigay<\/strong>,\u00a0Lesbian Difference<\/strong>\u00a0e\u00a0Trans Action<\/strong>, organized a meeting to reiterate the importance of support services for the LGBT+ community.<\/p>\n The association\u00a0Gay Center<\/strong>, together with other partner associations\u00a0Arcigay<\/strong>,\u00a0Difference between Lesbian and Trans Action<\/strong>, has activated its own\u00a0thanks to the Municipality of Rome<\/strong>\u00a0in 2005 the\u00a0National Gay Help Line Contact Center 800 713 713<\/strong>, which in\u00a02026 will be 20 years old, and\u00a0<\/strong>which has responded to since the beginning of the service\u00a0over 350 thousand<\/strong>\u00a0contacts, with a\u00a0average of around 20 thousand per year in the last five years. In response to requests for help from young people and very young people\u00a0LGBTQAI+<\/strong>, In the\u00a02012<\/strong>\u00a0the project has been started\u00a0LGBT+ Refuge<\/strong>, in collaboration with the French network\u00a0The Refuge<\/strong>. Thanks to this initiative, over\u00a0140 users<\/strong>\u00a0in three structures, with a\u00a0cohousing in Municipio 1<\/strong>\u00a0of Rome. The project made history, being the first facility in Italy to welcome minors entrusted directly by the courts into a facility\u00a0LGBT+<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Furthermore, Refuge LGBT+ has welcomed, for the first time in Italy, minors entrusted to us directly by the courts.<\/p>\n Tamiko Kaneda<\/strong>, Secretary General of the\u2019Soka Gakkai Italian Buddhist Institute<\/strong>, He then took the floor\u00a0Gianluca Lanzi<\/strong>, President of the\u00a0Municipality 11<\/strong>\u00a0of Rome, underlining the collaboration with the\u00a0Gay Center<\/strong>\u00a0in several initiatives, including a recent campaign at schools, sports centres and pharmacies in the Municipality for\u00a0Gay Help Line<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The event received greetings from\u00a0Erica Battaglia<\/strong>, President of the\u00a0Culture Commission of the Municipality of Rome<\/strong>, who founded the Refuge LGBT+ project with us.<\/p>\n \u201cOur administration's commitment to supporting organizations like this is and remains constant. This facility is essential because, thanks to the invaluable work of its specialized staff, it is a point of reference, a place of welcome, refuge, and defense for all those who, unfortunately, are still victims of homosexual, lesbian, transphobic, and transphobic violence and discrimination. This phenomenon remains deeply troubling and characterized by an undetected population, which we address in part thanks to the valuable contribution of the network of local LGBT+ help desks in the municipalities. \n<\/strong>The service of the\u00a0Gay Help Line\u00a0<\/strong>has always been guaranteed over the years, thanks to the support of volunteers and institutions that have supported us, such as the\u2019Unar\u00a0<\/strong>(National Anti-Racial Office of the Ministry of Equal Opportunities), the Lazio Region, the Municipality of Rome,<\/strong>\u00a0and the\u2019Soka Gakkai Italian Buddhist Institute<\/strong>\u00a0thanks to the funds\u00a08\u00d71000\u00a0<\/strong>and others\u00a0public entities, the Waldensian Church, and private individuals.
\n<\/strong>I proudly recall that we are still the official Contact Center of the Municipality of Rome.<\/u>\u201d<\/p>\n
