DESCRIPTION:Giovedì 25 maggio alle ore 19 Jeremy Atherton Lin presenta Gay Bar al Monk a Roma.  \nInterviene Pietro Turano.  \nEvento in collaborazione con ArciGay Roma.  \nRifugio\, palcoscenico\, spazio di incontri\, di solidarietà\, di espressione sessuale: il bar gay è stato a lungo il luogo in cui una comunità priva di diritti e di rappresentazione\, esclusa dal centro della scena e delle città\, ha potuto riunirsi\, sperimentare l’appartenenza\, esistere davvero. Oggi\, uno per uno\, quei luoghi stanno scomparendo\, chiusi oppure trasformati in qualcosa di più innocuo (e certo più commerciabile). Possiamo leggerlo come un buon segno\, la dimostrazione che non c’è più ragione di nascondersi; ma\, senza voler negare il valore di quello che abbiamo guadagnato\, è possibile raccontare anche quello che stiamo perdendo? \n\n\nMuovendosi tra analisi politica\, ricostruzione storica\, aneddoti personali e una giusta dose di gossip\, Jeremy Atherton Lin ci guida in un tour transatlantico dei locali che hanno segnato la sua vita e la storia della comunità LGBTQ\, una comunità che forse è più frammentata e meno inclusiva di come vorrebbe rappresentarsi. Gay Bar potrebbe essere solo una raffinata (e necessaria) indagine sul legame tra luoghi e identità\, non fosse che segna l’irruzione nella scena letteraria di un autore strepitoso. In una prosa sfavillante come una palla da discoteca o malinconica come l’alba che accompagna il ritorno a casa\, Atherton Lin ha scritto uno di quei libri rarissimi che sono insieme lettura colta e guilty pleasure: un perturbante memoir erotico\, un romanzo d’amore avventuroso\, un’analisi poetica del desiderio che non fa distinzione di generi né di orientamenti e accoglie chiunque abbia esperienza o nostalgia delle notti fuori\, dei corpi e degli sguardi\, della musica e delle luci\, delle storie che viviamo a volte solo per il gusto di poterle poi raccontare. «Ci sono notti che hanno un battito udibile\, e noi balliamo».
