«"First, loneliness and emptiness, you steal pieces of other people's identities. Then you begin to recognize yourself. In between, a gap, which also happens thanks to books like this." Pietro Turano
«"I was born Lisa, but deep down I've always been Ale. I just have to give myself permission to be myself. Because in the end, deep down, you know who you are. Even if it's not easy to get there." Ale's journey is full of questions: will I always be me? Will my dog still recognize me? Will I stop being a sensitive hermit crab and become a testosterone-fueled beast? Will I still be able to dance to Beyoncé's songs? But it's also full of surprising milestones: from his mother's loving reactions to his first meeting with the psychologist, from his changing (or not) relationships with friends, to his special bond with Celeste, with whom he falls in love. Ale discovers that the real question isn't what it means to be a man or a woman, but what it means to be yourself.
