On May 11th, we spoke at the 1st National Conference of the Italian Society of Gender Identity and Health (SIGIS), taking place in Florence from May 11th to 13th, 2023.
Alessandra Rossi, coordinator of the Gay Help Line, presented the demands of trans and non-binary people, based on the experiences she heard online.
We asked the healthcare professionals present:
- a non-medicalized and multidisciplinary approach to gender affirmation processes, which includes peer support;
- greater accessibility to free hormone replacement therapy drugs;
- shortening of waiting lists for gender surgery.
We did this starting from the new Gay Help Line data that we will present on #17May, on the occasion of the Day against #omolesbobitransphobia.
So that things can change soon and trans and non-binary people are increasingly able to self-determine, respecting every subjectivity.
