For full equality for all families, for the rights of our sons and daughters. Rome, it's time!
In response to the halt in the transcription of foreign birth certificates of children with two fathers and the creation of birth certificates with two mothers, Famiglie Arcobaleno, Circolo di cultura omosessuale Mario Mieli, Arcigay Roma, Rete Lenford – Avvocatura per i diritti lgbti and Agedo Roma, have called in Rome for the full equality of all families, for the rights of our sons and daughters.
The government's decision to crack down on rainbow families is cruel to the children themselves, a vile act that we will fight against without backing down an inch.
We call on the entire rainbow community, LGBT+ associations, and civil society to join us in the streets. In defense of rainbow families, we advocate for a law that recognizes the rights of girls and boys born to same-sex couples from birth. We call on Mayors, and in particular on Mayor of Rome Gualtieri, who stopped the transcriptions well before the right-wing government a year ago now, to continue to register and transcribe our daughters and sons. Rights cannot wait.
In the square with a pen. During the demonstration, we will raise it together, clenching it in one fist. It symbolizes all the signatures, all the authorizations, and all the documents that are normal for a parent, but which for an unrecognized parent become dozens and dozens of obstacles. We want to ensure the rights denied to children; we want the duties of all other parents.
Let's defend our right to be families, because we are on the right side of history and the time has come to prove it, together!
