DANCE
THE STARS
INTERNATIONAL DANCE GALA
MON 31 JAN | 9:00 PM | SANTA CECILIA HALL
After a two-year wait, Les Étoiles, curated by Daniele Cipriani, finally returns to the Auditorium Parco della Musica.
Since 2015, Les Étoiles has been Italy's most anticipated dance event, with audiences from around the world coming to marvel at the virtuosity of flight and pointe performances by some of the world's most prominent stars from the world's leading theaters. Guest dancers include: Eleonora Abbagnato – formerly of the Paris Opera and currently Director of the Rome Opera Ballet; London's Royal Ballet – Natalia Osipova (January 31), Fumi Kaneko, and Vadim Muntagirov; American Ballet Theatre – Cassandra Trenary and Calvin Royal III; Paris Opera – Mathieu Ganio; Berlin Opera – Daniil Simkin; and international stars Sergio Bernal (formerly of the Spanish National Ballet), Alejandro Virelles (formerly of the Cuban National Ballet), and Ana Sophia Scheller (formerly of the New York City Ballet). A unique opportunity to see, together on one stage, the world's most celebrated dancers and works. In a rich and varied program, spectators will find beloved pieces from the classical repertoire (including the White Swan and Black Swan pas de deux, adorned with tutus designed by Roberto Capucci), as well as sophisticated modern works, such as the Italian premiere of Christopher Rudd's Touché, performed by Calvin Royal III and João Menegussi, a rarely sensitive, honest, and compelling male pas de deux, a celebration of love in all its forms.
