Also this year, the 14th, on the occasion of Saint Valentine there was the initiative "“The Same Kiss“, organized by Gay Center with Arcigay in various cities of Italy: this year we will be in the square with an awareness initiative against homotransphobia.
We have been in various cities such as Rome, Reggio Calabria, Latina, Viterbo, Rieti, Frosinone, Albano Laziale, Quarto (NA), where information leaflets were distributed and Baci Perugina donated by Perugina.
In particular to Rome the volunteers of Arcigay Roma and Gay Center were at Ostiense Square to reiterate a clear message: every kiss has the same value and we also took the opportunity to inform about the reality of the "“conversion therapies“: Although homosexuality has no longer been considered an illness since 1990, treatments aimed at correcting the sexual orientation and gender identity of LGBTQIA+ people, in an attempt to make them heterosexual and cisgender, are still legal in Italy and many European countries.
Being LGBTQIA+ is not a choice, nor something that can or should be changed. Therefore, alongside the celebration of love in all its forms, we want to continue denouncing the violence and discrimination that still affect our community.
