Gay Help Line 2024 Spot: No to bullying, with the support of the Lazio Region

Spot Gay Help Line 2024: No al bullismo, con il sostegno della Regione Lazio

Let's go Gay Help Line 800 713 713 2024 campaign and the Speakly.org chat, made possible thanks to the support of the Lazio Region. The Gay Help Line service also receives support from the Municipality of Rome, 8×1000 funds from the Italian Buddhist Institute Soka Gakkai, the Waldensian Church, and donations from companies and individuals.

The campaign is structured in two spots and aims to raise awareness of the effects of homophobic and transphobic discrimination on the daily lives of young LGBT+ people and others.

In the first spot we tell the classic spin the bottle, in which a girl who has a sexual orientation and gender identity close to the LGBT+ community is left alone when it is her turn.

In the second spot, however, we find ourselves at a typical birthday party among teenagers, in which the person being celebrated is given a letter of congratulations, but with mocking writings, highlighting how homophobia and transphobia can infiltrate even moments of celebration.

“The commercial was made on the occasion of the Gay Help Line's eighteenth year of service and shows examples of the stories of who calls the toll-free number 800 713 713 every day or write to Speakly service, a chat that allows the service via the app or the website speakly.org anonymously, thanks also to the collaboration of OSCAD (Observatory against discrimination by the Police and Carabinieri)” – Marina Marini of the Gay Center board of directors declares for Gay Help Line – The service receives approximately 20,000 contacts from all over Italy every year, and the percentage of users using the Speakly.org chat app is growing, especially among young people, who are seeking help against homotransphobia. This year, we've decided to focus on teenage moments that should be happy, like a birthday party or an evening with friends. Unfortunately, this isn't always the case: among young people, the risk of being bullied for their sexual orientation and/or gender identity, of being exposed to ridicule and exclusion, is still too high. And that's why we invite you to contact our service, which assists young people and LGBTQIA+ people throughout Italy.”

“We wholeheartedly support this important organization, whose services against discrimination against LGBT+ people are an added value for our region. The Lazio Region is constantly committed to fighting all forms of discrimination and violence, including those related to sexual orientation and gender identity, because no one should ever feel alone and abandoned. Francesco Rocca, President of the Lazio Region, declared this.

The advertising campaign created thanks to the Lazio Region will feature the commercial and its derivatives in TV, in the press, on the radio, on social networks, on billboards and on the Cotral buses.
The goal, in fact, is to be visible across all media, across all genres, to remind anyone who sees it that, in difficult situations due to their gender identity or sexual orientation, they can count on highly trained people ready to offer help.

For years, Gay Center has been offering support to LGBT+ people who are victims of homophobia and transphobia through contact channels such as the Gay Help Line 800 713 713 and the Chat APP Speakly.org, even hosting those who need it most in the family homes of the REFUGE LGBT+ Network.
