FOR THE PROTECTION OF LGBT+ PEOPLE

THE PLATFORM HAS SIGNED: DONATELLA BIANCHI (M5S) – ALESSIO D'AMATO (PD)

LGBT+ associations in Lazio are proposing a 15-point platform to combat discrimination against LGBT+ people and implement best practices for the well-being of LGBT+ people. This regional request can support concrete and effective action against homophobia and transphobia throughout Lazio.

 

  1. COUNTERS AND SUPPORT

For concrete support to help desks and contact centers to combat discrimination against LGBT+ people, run by the Third Sector. Every victim of discrimination has the right to receive psychological or legal assistance in all provinces of the Lazio Region. Support and support are the priority of our actions.

 

  1. FAMILY HOMES AND RECEPTION FACILITIES

Lazio is the first region in Italy to open a facility for victims of homotransphobia in their families. This will provide direct support to existing family homes and shelters, as well as the possibility of extending these facilities throughout the region.

 

  1. ACTIONS IN SCHOOLS. EDUCATION AS A PRIORITY’

For a concrete commitment to reduce homophobic and transphobic bullying, through specific projects entrusted to non-profit organizations throughout the Lazio Region. Schools should be safe places for young LGBT+ adolescents. A concrete commitment to combating school dropouts and combating bullying, including training for school staff.

 

  1. PARITY AND EQUALITY

Promote active labor market policies aimed at fostering social and occupational integration in order to avoid exposure to the risk of social exclusion due to sexual orientation and gender identity.

The Region encourages the adoption of behaviors inspired by consideration and respect for all sexual orientations and gender identities and also identifies the adoption of such methods among the objectives of the integrated planning of training activities for the staff of all regional institutions.

 

  1. HEALTH AND PREVENTION

For dignified access for LGBT+ people to healthcare facilities, especially for transgender people. Specific training for healthcare facility and local health authority staff.

Free psychological support for victims of homophobia.

Commitment to communication campaigns aimed at promoting prevention policies to combat the spread of the HIV virus and at the same time reducing the stigma of people living with HIV.

Support for Third Sector services that offer HIV and STI screening activities, creation of PREP desks in agreement with them, free PREP and use of telemedicine for its prescription

 

  1. SAIFIP AND TRANS PEOPLE

Commitment to comprehensive healthcare for transgender and intersex people in the healthcare system, in accordance with the current service portfolio, taking into account its revision based on scientific advances, and defining free access criteria for psychotherapeutic support, hormone treatment, and surgical procedures. The individual's wishes must be taken into account in the decision-making process, provided their life is not in danger or their health is not endangered, in accordance with current regulations. Regarding minors, their right to the free development of their personality and their capacity and maturity to make decisions must also be taken into account. Furthermore, access to gender affirmation must be completely free.

Strengthening of the SAIFIP – Physical Identity and Mental Identity Adaptation Service, its dignified placement and use of telemedicine

 

  1. COMMUNICATION CAMPAIGNS

Implementation of information and awareness campaigns to raise awareness of the issues of discrimination against LGBT people and to provide those affected with the information necessary to protect their rights.

 

  1. MIGRANTS

Reception, care, and physical and psychological rehabilitation of LGBT foreigners and refugees who have suffered torture and violence based on their sexual orientation or gender identity, considering that over 70 countries worldwide provide prison or punitive sentences for LGBT+ people. Facilitating access to primary care.

 

  1. PRISONS

Prevention and support initiatives for LGBT people in prisons, including with the aim of including them in training and career paths

 

  1. HOMELESS

Support and recovery of basic personal and social functions of homeless LGBT people who have been separated from their families of origin because of their sexual orientation or gender identity

 

  1. LGBT+ ELDERLY

Support the implementation of social co-housing experiences for LGBT+ seniors by identifying regional or other local public facilities. Promote actions to combat loneliness among LGBT+ seniors.

 

  1. LGBT+ CULTURE

Support for cultural initiatives that promote LGBT+ culture. Actions against homophobia, lesbophobia, biphobia, and transphobia.

 

  1. TERRITORIAL ACTIONS. LAZIO IS NOT JUST ROME

A concrete and serious commitment to the dissemination of the above-mentioned services throughout the region. Lazio is not just Rome, and it is essential to protect LGBT+ people living outside the Metropolitan City of Rome, who are often isolated and without a place to call home.

 

  1. FOR AN EFFECTIVE LAW AGAINST HOMOTRANSPHOBIA

For the creation of an effective regional law against homotransphobia that doesn't remain a dead letter. Lazio should become a hub for proposing advanced regional laws, establishing concrete actions. No reversion to dysfunctional and provenly empty models, but proposals that truly protect victims. A law is a law if it's effective; no propaganda about LGBT+ people.

 

  1. ALLOCATION OF FUNDS: COMMITMENT, NOT JUST WORDS

For a concrete commitment to implementing the above-mentioned points with specific allocated funds, whether through individual actions or within a law against homotransphobia. For work alongside third-sector organizations, which supports and does not burden volunteers alone.
