TRANSPHOBIA AT Cavour High School. Gay Center: Education Minister's words are good, concrete interventions are needed in schools.

Regarding the incident of transphobic discrimination at Cavour High School in Rome, after we reported it to the Ministry of Education, Universities and Research (MIUR), Minister Giuseppe Valditara stated: "The Ministry supports all appropriate investigations that the school principal and the Regional School Office deem appropriate to determine whether discrimination has occurred. School is the place par excellence dedicated to the development and fulfillment of the human person, and obviously cannot tolerate any form of discrimination within it.".

“"We appreciate the Minister's condemnation of discrimination. We therefore await the outcome, hopefully soon, of the sanctioning of the teacher, to protect the Cavour student community. Therefore, to protect all transgender students, we urge the Minister to implement the adoption of alias careers nationwide for all high schools, including training for school staff. To this end, we are available to support the Ministry," said Pietro Turano, spokesperson for the Gay Center.
