The numerous reports from witnesses that reached Gay Help Line made it possible to reach this result in just a few hours.
We continue to encourage anyone who witnessed something to share their testimony, which will help clarify the facts and individual responsibilities.
Let us now let the protection system take its course, taking care to remember that In our country there is still no specific law for homophobic and transphobic hate speech.. This means that the reasons that triggered and determined the violence, the violence that so outraged us, will not be taken into account in legal proceedings. It means that, even if criminal liability is established, this episode cannot be recorded and included in an institutional monitoring system for homophobic and transphobic hate crimes.
For this reason, the public response generated by this episode is of great value: the culture of respect and solidarity among all communities can make a real difference, inspiring concrete actions. With this goal in mind, We invite everyone to participate in the sit-in against violence, Wednesday 24 July at 7pm at the site of the attack: crossroads of Via delle Tre Fontane and Viale di Val Fiorita.
