On the day of May 17, 2024 – WORLD DAY AGAINST HOMO-TRANSPHOBIA – it was inaugurated in Rome Refuge Co-Housing LGBT+, , the Co-Housing structure intended for young LGBT+ victims of violence and discrimination and/or migrants, for a project of full inclusion for the first time in the historic center of Rome, thanks to the commitment of the Municipality 1 of Rome Capital present with the President Lorenza Bonaccorsi, the Councilor Equal Opportunities Claudia Santoloce and the President of the Equal Opportunities Commission Daniela Spinaci , for the Municipality of Rome for which he was present Yuri Trombetti, President of the Heritage Commission, who handed over the property seized from the mafia to the person in charge Marina Marini for the Gay Center LGBT+ Refuge Family Homes.
The facility will accommodate up to three young LGBT+ people, on a semi-autonomous basis, who have been exposed to situations of violence and discrimination for the first time in central Rome, in a property seized by the mafia. The project is also funded by the of the Sokka Gakkai Buddhist Institute.
The structure thus becomes the third reception house after LGBT Refuge e Refuge T* At Ornella's house, managed by Gay Center, thus increasing the available places, but today there are over 400 young LGBT+ people who are kicked out of their homes in Italy every year and need hospitality and welcome to whom we provide the services of Gay Help Line 800 713 713, Speakly.org and Refuge LGBT, which have had the support of UNAR - Presidency of the Council, Lazio Region, Municipality of Rome, Italian Buddhist Institute Soka Gakkai and Waldensian Church, and furthermore for the second year the service will be supported by Flying Tiger Copenhagen and will be visible in 131 stores throughout Italy.
