Unfortunately we have to inform you bad news: From May 30th the Refuge LGBT family home risks closing, and not being able to continue to support victims who ask for help.

This is not the time for controversy, but we care about the continuation of the service. The urgency now is to be able to help the eight children we are caring for, allowing the project to continue..

What is Refuge LGBT? Refuge LGBT is the first temporary shelter for LGBT people who are victims of homophobia and transphobia in their families, which simultaneously hosts 8 girls and boys. Young victims of homotransphobia, who have suffered violence and have been abandoned by their families, but they're struggling to get back on their feet. Everyone is working hard to find work, and with great effort they're completing their education: one of them will have to take his high school diploma in June.

What are the kids going through? The trauma of rejection and abandonment that these young people have already experienced should not, under any circumstances, be repeated: no child should be put in the position of fearing for their acceptance, of seeing a precarious and insecure situation before them.

Why are we asking for your support? For the future of the eight young men and women currently staying at the facility, aged between 18 and 23 and coming from different regions such as Veneto, Campania, Lazio and Abruzzo. We had taken them in precisely because, among the many cases reported to the service, Gay Help Line 800 713 713. Young people are particularly vulnerable, exposed to domestic violence and without any alternative accommodation or support.

We're talking about kids who were rejected, segregated, and beaten by their families, who suddenly found themselves out of their homes without even a bag or a single personal item.
